- Heat oven to 200°C (400°F, Gas Mark 6), lightly grease a large baking tin.
- Mix the buttermilk into flour with a spoon and immediately turn into the tin.
- Place tin in centre of oven and bake for 40-45 minutes. If small tins are used shorter baking time is required.
The addition of 50 g / 2 oz sugar and 225-350 g/ 8-12 oz mixed dried fruit, makes delicious fruit soda bread.
