Herb and Garlic Loaf

Preheat oven to 190C (375oF).Gas mark 5

Method:
Grease a loose bottom 20cm(8") cake tin

Sift the flour, baking powder and salt into a bowl

Rub in the butter and stir in the remaining ingredients

Divide the mixture into 6 even pieces

Roll the pieces in balls and arrange five around the outside of the tin and one in the centre

Brush with a little beaten egg and sprinkle with sesame seeds

Bake for 50mins until cooked through and golden brown

Cool on a wire tray before cutting

Ingredients

  • 450g (1lb) Neill's Fine wholemeal flour
  • 1 level tblsp of baking powder
  • 1 level tees salt
  • 75g ( 3oz ) Butter
  • 50g (1oz) Grated mature cheddar cheese
  • 2 Garlic cloves crushed
  • 1 small onion peeled and grated
  • 2 tblsp of freshly chopped parsley
  • 250ml (1/2 pt) Milk
  • seasoning
  • 2 medium eggs
  • Glaze
  • Beaten egg and sesame seeds
